How much does a CCTV system cost in Sydney?
It depends on the number and type of cameras, the recorder and storage, the cable runs and access, and whether existing cabling can be reused. Our CCTV packages give you a clear starting point, and for custom systems we look at the site and give you a free, itemised quote. Call 0493 866 119 or request a quote online.
Should I choose an analog DVR system or an IP NVR system?
For new installations we recommend IP (NVR) systems. They give clearer footage, AI detection and are easier to expand. If you already have good coax cabling, an HD analog DVR system can be a cost-effective upgrade, or we can use PoE over coax kits to run IP cameras on that same coax.
Can I upgrade to IP cameras without running new cable?
Often, yes. If your property has existing coax or two-wire cable, our PoE over coax and PoE over two-wire kits send network data and power down that cable, so modern IP cameras work without new Cat6. We test your cable first to confirm it's suitable.
How far can PoE over coax and PoE over two-wire kits run?
Both can run well beyond the 100 metre limit of a standard network cable. The exact distance depends on the kit, the cable type and its condition, so we test your cable on site and confirm the distance before we quote.
Can I upgrade my old intercom to a video intercom using the existing wires?
Yes, in most cases. A PoE over two-wire kit lets a modern IP video intercom run on the two-core cable from your old intercom or doorbell, so you can see and talk to visitors on your phone without trenching or new cable runs.
What is an ANPR camera and do I need one?
An ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) camera is designed to read and log vehicle number plates, day and night. It suits driveways, car parks, strata garages and business entrances where you want a searchable record of vehicles. A normal CCTV camera often can't read plates reliably, especially at night.
What is the difference between a PTZ camera and a fixed camera?
A fixed camera always looks at the same area. A PTZ camera can pan, tilt and optically zoom, so one camera can cover a large area and zoom in on detail. Because a PTZ only looks one way at a time, we usually pair it with fixed cameras.
What is a 360° multi-sensor camera?
A 360° multi-sensor camera has four lenses in one housing, each aimed in a different direction, so one camera covers all the way around a building corner, pole or open area. It can replace up to four separate cameras with one mount and one cable. It usually uses four recorder channels, which we allow for when sizing your NVR.
Do AI cameras really reduce false alerts?
Yes. AI cameras recognise people and vehicles, so they ignore moving trees, rain, shadows, animals and headlights that trigger old motion detection. You get fewer, more useful alerts on your phone.
Can CCTV cameras record in colour at night?
Yes. Low-light colour cameras such as Uniview OwlView use a wide-aperture lens and a high-sensitivity sensor to record full-colour footage from existing street and house lights, so you can see faces, clothing and car colours at night. A built-in warm light switches on only in the darkest spots.
Are you licensed to install CCTV in Sydney?
Yes. AI Elites Security holds a Master Security Licence and Operative Security Licence, and our technicians have ACMA Open Registration for cabling work. Every installation comes with a 3-year workmanship warranty.
